¢ MANTRONIX&TIP/PHENOMENA
³Comments From the studio musician,
Andreas Stenhager:
¹
These guys most be the most varied
artists when it comes to the
mainthemes, they have a bunch of
really good ideas which they sometimes
expand and succeed making so good as
if it was real music. But it isn't
real music, and that is very clear
when it comes to the samples made by
these guys. Sure, they are innovative
and that is really important, but I
think they would have succeeded better
if they would have used better
samplerates and if they would have
spent more time trying to loop some
voices. Sometimes the loops destroy
the whole tune and that is really a
pity since the tunes generally keep a
very high standard.
As stated Mantronix&Tip are full of
own ideas and that is very important!
Yes, you can make hundreds of poptunes
and receive lots of cash from it, but
the tunes would not have been possible
if not people like Mantronix&Tip would
have existed. One new idea is often
better than ten old, don't ever forget
that.
Search for me, Yummy Gap and Joyride
are all very nice tunes, with worked
through chords and samples that fit
each other very well.
'Joyride' really provides the listener
with the nice, soft ambience that I
didn't expect to find in the scene;
¶I've heard many ballads but none well
made right through.
'Search for me' consists of very well
chosen chords and the melody is well
worked through, but why do they loop
the bass as if they were drunk?
'Yummy Gap' is really a nice
experimental tune that must have
dozens of different sounds almost
equal. It is a good idea indeed, but
I think they're too bound of the facts
that it's new, and they thereby miss
some interesting things that would
have made this tune a real hit.
These guys are really talented, they
know much about music and I can
imagine that they could free their
minds better with better equipment.
³Diesel's comment:
¹
Mantronix&Tip are no ordinary
musicians. Their themes conquer most
other Amigamusic. If they would use
better samples, they would be the
best(apart from Heatbeat), but they
don't and that really brings down the
average impression of professionality.
Some of the 'Crystal Symphonies
II'-tunes are wonderful arranged, and
so are Overload and Wacko. The songs
have great ideas, like in Yummy Gap
and Search for me(and Wacko!) and
sometimes they really succeed. But
why not trying to loop the samples
before using them? Or making them 5
Kb longer so that the end of the
sequence gets room?
